Cats confound me

Recently, while traveling with my family, I tried to draw a cat and was dismayed to find that I could not. I just hadn't seen a live cat in a while. My attempts to draw them from imagination produced these uncanny horrors:

Even after I got back home and did quick sketches of my neighborhood cats from life, I wasn't really happy with the results.

I decided the only way to get over this was to do some studies of cats. They are really so so fun to draw, because they're very versatile. Equal parts spooky and silly. I totally understand how these creatures kept Louis Wain entertained for decades.

One of my first "wins" as a working artist was when I managed to sell prints of this freaky little cat at my first artist's market. Reminded of that success, I’m thinking of turning a few more of these cat sketches into stickers. TBD when they’ll go live. Once they do, you can find my feline fares and other artwork for sale in my shop. (will link later… maybe)
